By WIN Contributor: Dr. Nicholas Slowinski, Chiropractor

With the holiday season upon us yet again, it is very easy for all of us to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of our lives and not truly recognize the beauty of what we are all experiencing. As much as it sounds cliché, we can be focused on what we have to achieve on our to do list and less concerned about our fellow man. The sad part: we may recognize it every year, and do nothing to change it, rather than doing something about it. Adding to this stress, social media can be a source of negativity and people are finding themselves more divided and upset than ever before.

So in the spirit of good ol’Saint Nick, this blog is going to be a little different.

That’s right, instead of boring you all with wicked awesome chiropractic techniques, or the science of some cool rehab move that may or may not ever apply to your health concern, I’m going to issue all you readers out there a challenge!

This challenge being…To find the spirit of Christmas!

…well, perhaps that might be too much to ask, or you may not celebrate Christmas…guess what, its bigger than that!

I want you to find an example of community, something that makes you proud to be a Niagara resident, something that makes you feel like you belong to the Niagara community, or even a small part of it!

Then once you have found it, I want you to celebrate this sense of community with us …by tagging us @winhealth on Instagram or @winhealthsolutions on Facebook!

We want to celebrate the many “facets” (chiropractic jokes, ask me a the office if you don’t understand 😁) of the Niagara community.

Oh, and don’t think we are off the hook, my fellow WIN team members this challenge includes you!

This doesn’t have to be anything fancy

  • a quick snap of a smile while donating to charity

  • a picture of you celebrating your success during a physio appointment

  • a picture of you and your rec sports team mates sharing a laugh

  • a picture of you and your friends at a Christmas party (bonus points for ugly Christmas sweaters)

  • anything that celebrates community and togetherness this holiday season!

…be creative, have fun, share an experience and share in the experiences of others!

I’d like to keep this challenge going for the remainder of the year!

So, you have time, and we can help if you’re stuck! For example, have you ever been to the LCBO on Christmas Eve…well I have, and let me tell you there may never be a better place to witness a sense of community or Christmas spirit (yes Dr. Nick goes to the LCBO, everything in moderation 😄).

First of all, everyone is there for the same reason, and it’s usually a happy one, last minute shopping for whatever…specifics aren’t important. However people, in my experience, are kind to one another, offer advice, wish complete strangers seasons greetingsto think that this experience could be a full time thing…if you don’t believe me check it out!

I can’t wait to see some awesome holiday/community photos and be sure to share in some of the amazing experiences, my fellow Niagara folk, over the next few weeks!

Oh, and in case I forget, or don’t get a chance to in person, this is me… Dr. Nick… raising his cup of cheer and wishing you all a Merry Christmas/happy holidays and a Happy New Year!!
